Youth Voice Matters:

Amplifying Young Voices

Today I’m shining the spotlight on a past workshop at the National Children’s Bureau Youth Voice Matters conference in Birmingham. It was an event dedicated to amplifying the voices of disabled children and young people across the UK.

The Challenge

The goal was to help young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) communicate their needs and ideas effectively. This was particularly important with the general election approaching.

The Process

During the workshop, we created manifesto zines with powerful young voices from FLARE, advisors to the Department for Education along with 65 young people. These zines are a tool to advocate for the changes they want to see.

The Outcome

The manifesto zines will be disseminated widely, aiming to influence policymakers and drive positive change for young people with SEND. It was an honour to be part of this important work.

Esther has been amazing to work with. Her approach is very friendly and inclusive, including when working with children and young people. Esther’s creative vision really helps to elevate a project. A big thank you to Esther for all of her help on a recent piece of work.”
